Post-Shelter Support
Stepping Stones recognizes that many of our former resident families move out into the community with very little support, and that they remain at risk of future homelessness. We continue to serve as a resource for our families even after they leave the Shelter. To help families remain stable, Stepping Stones provides:
Moving Out Support
- Donation of Wish List items to set up a new household, including dishes, linens, lamps, kitchenware, and small appliances
- Furniture referrals
Support for Families After They Leave The Shelter
Stepping Stones serves as a “one-stop resource” for goods and services for former residents, including:
- Backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies. This year, Stepping Stones provided well over 100 backpacks to former residents.
- Holiday food and gifts. Each year, Stepping Stones provides food and presents to approximately 45 current and former families to make the holidays merry!
- Daily necessities including diapers, food, clothing, and home goods.
- Referrals for additional services such as food and clothing, and re-connection to career counselors.
- Twice-weekly parent workshops at the Shelter are open to former residents.
