On June 13, 2017, members of the Montgomery County Maryland Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc, presented Stepping Stones Shelter with a donation of $12,166.
Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is an organization of mothers dedicated to raising the next generation of African-American leaders while enhancing the lives of all children. The Montgomery County Maryland Chapter has made a two-year commitment to supporting Stepping Stones Shelter with its philanthropic giving and community service engagement.
Yaminah Leggett-Wells, President of the Montgomery County Chapter of Jack and Jill, shared the chapter’s enthusiasm for their partnership with Stepping Stones, stating that they are “proud of our partnership with the Stepping Stones Shelter. Through our community service and philanthropic giving we have been able to make a positive difference in the lives of mothers and children in Montgomery County, MD. We are pleased to be able to provide donations totaling $13,366 this year from our mothers, teens, and fathers, and look forward to continued support in the future.”

“On the behalf of the Stepping Stones Shelter residents, staff, and Board of Directors, we are so grateful for JJMCMC, and the wonderful partnership that we have with this phenomenal organization!” said Executive Director Jaye Matthews.

Over the past year, the mothers, fathers and teens of the Chapter have contributed both time and resources to the Shelter. Ms. Matthews expressed her appreciation for the chapter’s commitment, stating that, “The contributions have been invaluable-from the teens fundraising to purchase dinner ingredients themselves, and coming in-shelter to prepare dinner for our families, to the generous expression of love during the holiday giving campaign and adopting 10 of our families to fulfill their wish lists, to the Fathers Auxiliary organizing a special appreciation program and presenting gifts to our moms in-shelter, launching your own #THRIVE35 campaign for us, and naming Stepping Stones Shelter as the beneficiary of your 55th Anniversary Cruise for A Cause, resulting in JJMCMC presenting us with a donation, totaling $12,166.00, we cannot thank you enough! Your generosity aids us greatly in moving families forward, and we look forward to continuing to partner with Jack and Jill Montgomery County Maryland Chapter.”
